The whole universe depends on everything fitting together just right.
If one piece busts, even the smallest piece,
the entire universe will get busted.

Il trailer comincia così. Con questa bambina in mezzo all'acqua, al bosco.
Al cielo, al ghiaccio.

Non molto tempo fa ero a casa di amici. Mi chiedevano un film da guardare, un film di respiro.
Respiro.
Mi è rimasta impressa la richiesta.
Probabilmente intendevano un film con scene all'aperto, bei paesaggi, un pò di azione.
Non mi è venuto in mente nulla che valesse la pena.

Ora, tempo dopo, ripenso alle parole di quella bambina che vive in mezzo alla palude, con suo padre ed una comunità di amici.

A margine della palude gli uomini della terra secca hanno innalzato una diga enorme, per tenere lontana l'acqua.

Un giorno, dice la bambina, la tempesta arriverà e non ci sarà diga che tenga.

un giorno...

"Preproduction is like this little animal that you're raising, "

ho letto dice Benh Zeitlin, il regista del film, riguardo all'esperienza di girare un film:

"and it's like a tiger, and you raise it until it's way bigger and stronger and faster than you, and you can't control it at all. You just set it loose and then you have to chase it. And so for everybody that worked on 'Beasts,' it was like an athletic event. A safari hunt. With this running beast that you're trying not to be destroyed by...it's always fun.
The movies are secondary. The tiger chase comes first."

Ora. Del poco, poco che so riguardo a girare un film, questa è una delle cose più vere che ne abbia sentito dire.
